Nick Martinelli went 8-of-9 from the field, went 3-for-3 from deep, and committed zero turnovers in 26 minutes as the LA Clippers routed the Washington Wizards 108-94 on Tuesday, July 15, in NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas.

The former Northwestern star finished with 19 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. He attempted nine shots and missed once.

It wasn't a one-game fluke. Martinelli, who signed a two-way contract with the Clippers after being selected 55th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, put together a full week of production. He posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double in 27 minutes against the Lakers on Monday, July 14, according to NBA.com. Then he closed the Clippers' Summer League schedule on Friday, July 18, with 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, six rebounds, two assists, and a steal in a 128-120 overtime win over Minnesota that the Orange County Register reported set a Summer League scoring record for the Clippers, who finished 3-2.

Martinelli spent all four collegiate seasons at Northwestern, where he scored 1,787 career points across 120 games, according to Sports Reference. The 6-foot-7 forward was a two-time All-Big Ten second-team selection and a two-time Big Ten scoring champion, averaging 23.0 points per game as a senior while shooting 51.0% from the field and 41.7% from three.

Northwestern head coach Chris Collins praised Martinelli's place in program history in a March 2026 profile with Hoops HQ. "He is in the high, upper-echelon of guys who have ever played in this program and he'll be forever remembered," Collins said.

The Glenview native and Glenbrook South High School product is the second Wildcat drafted in consecutive years, following Brooks Barnhizer, who went 44th overall to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2025. Barnhizer made his own Summer League mark, recording three double-doubles in four games for OKC and earning NBA.com's Day 8 Standout recognition on Thursday, July 17, with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists against Dallas.

Northwestern Basketball's official account on X captioned Martinelli's stat line from the Wizards game with two words: "Nothing new."

With Summer League complete, Martinelli turns his attention to Clippers training camp and the October regular-season opener.
