Inside Perspective Gallery on Chicago Avenue, a blue lacquered door stands open in a photograph. Floor tiles pattern the threshold, marking where inside meets outside. It's a doorway into Tenby, the small Welsh fishing town Jane Feely's family has called home for centuries.

Feely's series is one half of "Ar•ti•facts." The dual exhibition she shares with fellow gallery member Jeffrie Chirchirillo runs through Aug. 30 at the cooperative's space at 1310½B Chicago Ave.

The other half belongs to Chirchirillo's "Light Filtering Through Leaves." His photographs capture Hackberry and Grapevine leaves that have fallen and stuck to the glass roof of his greenhouse, forming what Newcity Art critic Susan Aurinko called "silent and simple studies" that resemble stained glass in autumn shades of gold and russet. The images carry numbers instead of word titles, adding to what Aurinko described as a sense of infinite fallen leaves.

Feely, a lens-based artist originally from South Wales who now lives in Lake County, threads shades of blue through her sequence to create flow and continuity. Between groups of photographs, she places text placards about Tenby and what the town means to her family. One standout image, "Pressure," shows an extreme closeup of a carved-wood barometer. In a fishing village, Aurinko noted in her Aug. 6 review, indicators of wind and barometric pressure were critical to those who made their living from the sea.

Feely joined Perspective Gallery in 2023 and has shown two prior solo exhibitions there: "Fragmented" in February 2024 and "Japan: With a Beginner's Mind" in December 2025. She is also a member of the Chicago Photographic Arts Society, with work published in F-Stop Magazine and Lonely Planet Traveler's UK edition.

Perspective Gallery, a not-for-profit photography cooperative founded about 15 years ago, gives its member artists curatorial control over their own shows. The exhibition opened July 30 with a reception Aug. 1.

A virtual artists' talk is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. Registration is available at perspectivegallery.org.
