Evanston's lakefront fireworks show lights up Dawes Park on Saturday, July 4, capping a free evening of live music on the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The Palatine Concert Band performs from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Arrington Lakefront Lagoon at Dawes Park, near Sheridan Road and Church Street. Fireworks follow at approximately 9:30 p.m. and will be visible from most lakefront parks, according to the Evanston Fourth of July Association.

The celebration is free.

Earlier in the day, Evanston's Fourth of July parade steps off at 2 p.m. on Central Street. The full day of events is organized by the Evanston Fourth of July Association, a donation-funded nonprofit.
