The U.S. men's national team plays its first knockout-round match at the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday, July 1, and Evanston residents can watch it together for free at Robert Crown Community Center.

The outdoor watch party starts at 7 p.m. on the turf fields at 1801 Main St. The match, a Round of 32 game against Bosnia-Herzegovina, kicks off at the same time (8 p.m. Eastern) from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The city's Parks & Recreation Department and Northwestern University's Office of Neighborhood and Community Relations are co-hosting the event. It follows a watch party held Thursday, June 25, for the USA-Turkey group-stage match.

Food vendors will be on-site starting around 6:30 p.m. with hot dogs, burgers, snacks, and beverages for purchase. Northwestern is also providing free popcorn and ice cream while supplies last.

Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets. If the turf fields are too hot, organizers will move the event to Tallmadge Park.

The U.S. hasn't won a World Cup knockout game since beating Mexico in 2002 to reach the quarterfinals. Bosnia-Herzegovina, meanwhile, is playing in its first-ever knockout match after advancing as a third-place team from Group B.

"They're a good team. A Round of 32, a do-or-die game. We'll be ready," USMNT midfielder Sebastian Berhalter said of the matchup.

The city has not announced watch parties for future rounds.
